Love Junkee Fall Wishlist

I was scrolling through my Instagram feed a few days ago and came across Love Junkee, an online boutique that carries affordably priced trendy street-style clothing for the budget-savvy fashionista. Below are some pieces that I would definitely purchase for the Fall season!

I am in love with this sweater because of the infinity and anchor sign, I guess it kind of reminds me those Brandy Melville tops! Throw on some tights and high waisted shorts with this sweatshirt, but don't forget a beanie to keep your head warm too.

Graphic sweatshirts are definitely my go-to item when it's rainy outside. Pair this crew neck with your tribal print leggings and just for style, wear a cropped leather jacket on top.

Hamsa Tank - $15 CAD

Keeping with the graphic print theme here, a tank like this is great to wear under your cozy boyfriend sweaters and acid-wash ripped jeans.

Zodiac Leggings - $25 CAD

I definitely need some printed leggings like this to spice up simple outfits and make a statement. Pair these with short bright rain boots and a chunky knitted pullover for the casual look.

So I guess this is one of those summer transition items that can be layered to get the Fall look. Pair this dress with tights, a dark leather jacket and a pearl headband for a cute casual outfit.

Which items do you like? ;)

Creative Way to Hang Earrings

You have your typical wireframe earring stands, the fancy dress mannequins and other tree-like or grater-like structures. After searching my home for any of the listed, I came up empty-handed. And sometimes, frustration is a fortune because I turned my creative gears on. I found these small furniture sets that I used to collect all the time but really, you can use any of those misfit dollhouse chairs you have lying in the back of your closet.

Featured below are some of my faves from my earrings collection!

The make up case you see was part of a Japanese brand called Re-ment that is well-known for their miniature collectibles! You can check out some of their other products here.

Liking what you see? Pin'em and share :)

More ideas:

1) Cute themed furniture set
2) Mini modern table
3) Simple modern chair

So how do you store your earrings? :)

Vancity Local: Kara Yoo Jewelry and Giveaway!

Something you should know about me by now is that I'm an ardent supporter of local small businesses and most things fashion-related. I guess its cause of their inspiring yet infectious entrepreneurial spirit that makes me enjoy being around and connecting with people who take the plunge to follow their dream or passion.

Kara is no small exception; in fact, she's the head designer/owner (and her own boss) of "Kara Yoo Jewelry". And you know what? She's based right here, right now in the most beautiful and (in my opinion) greatest city, Vancouver.

I happened to be surfing the web one night in search of local boutiques and businesses looking for that, "je ne said quoi" like critics at a runway show. When I stumbled upon the "Kara Yoo Jewelry" webpage, I was instantly attracted to the simple, elegant yet minimalistic jewelry designs and creative photography.

As Kara puts it, "Kara Yoo Jewelry is quite simple and understated, so it can be worn casually or dressed up". Her must-have pieces are those she can wear everyday that go with almost anything.

One of them are her Triangle Studs:

"I have a second ear piercing, so I usually wear both the silver and gold ones at the same time"

And the other, her Barrel Two-Tone Necklace:

And lastly Hex Two-Tone Necklace, which is also one of her staple items.

When I asked her about what inspired her neat designs, she simply told me it was a lot of things. "It's hard to specify as everything comes to me in a jumble. I love geometric and repeating patterns which can be found in a lot of architecture and every day life. She's also inspired by other local designers and the natural environment, of course.

Local jewelry designers and small business owners just don't appear out of thin air. Some know it from the start and some run down a winding path. Kara never outgrew the crafty stage and loved to make things for as long as she could remember.

"In high school my sister taught me how to make beaded jewelry, which I took up as a hobby throughout university. During my last year at UBC, I went to a conference and met the designers of Dannijo. I was extremely inspired, and knew that was exactly what I wanted to do!"

After earning a commerce degree with a specialization in marketing and entrepreneurship at UBC, Kara  attended VCC for the two-year Jewellery Art and Design Program. Shortly after, she launched her jewelry line and put those skills to good use.

Loving the Kara Yoo Jewelry designs so far? (I know I do)

With the Fall season approaching, I thought it would be high time to invest in some casual, loose white sweaters. Don't forget that you can pair em with those galaxy leggings you're yet to wear and those ankle studded booties you've been dying to show off. Below are my picks from some of favourite stores; they range in price, differ in style and are all affordably priced. Enjoy :)
